From time to time, Marchmont House is pleased to host special events both within the Home and as part of the local communities; we'll endeavour to publish details of these as they occur, in addition to interesting News from our Care Home, too.
Recruiting | Night Shift / Charge Nurse
When it comes to our team we believe in the importance of choosing the best candidates who will provide the highest level of care available for each of our residents, at all times.
The successful candidate must have good communication skills, be motivated to offer the highest standards of care and be able to undertake all appropriate aspects of nursing care required.
Responsibilities will include assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care for specified residents to ensure continuity of care and to take management responsibility for a shift as directed. Please specify whether you are interested in Full or Part Time hours; please note successful applicants will be required to work alternate weekends.
Congratulations to hard working care worker, Mark McGowan, for winning a prestigious award for Care Newcomer 2012.
The care assistant has been working with Marchmont Care Home since December 2011 and was the first within the Home to receive a Scottish Care National Care Home Award. Having been nominated by his manager, colleagues as well as the family of one of his residents, he was selected from more than 400 other entries from care homes up and down the country.
“It's really great to have won and for people to think of me and nominate me. The awards ceremony was a great night and has really made me feel appreciated. It's rewarding and great to know that I'm providing a service which really matters. I really didn't think I would ever win anything like this."
Mark was presented his award by TV celebrity and singer songwriter Michelle McManus at the annual award ceremony which took place at the impressive Hilton Hotel Glasgow on the 23rd November 2012.
Manager of Marchmont Care Home, Pauleen Stevenson said:
“This is the first time a carer has been named an overall winner, we've had runners-up before. Mark is such a nice and gentle person and has a great rapport with the residents, their families and colleagues. I did all I could to keep him after his placement because he just clicked in here at Marchmont."
